WARD-At Madisonville, O., Monday, July 3, at 2.30 A.M., of cerebral typhoid fever, Anna Bodine, wife of J. A. Ward, in the 32d year of her age. Funeral services will be held at the residence on Wednesday at 3 P.M.
John Anderson Ward appears in the 1890 census of Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, etc. as a resident of Madisonville, Hamilton County, Ohio. He reported he had served as a Sergeant with Company C, 138th Ohio Regt. from 2 May to 1 Sept 1864. On 17 Dec 1890 in Hamilton County, John Ward married Carrie Banks (Richardson) Carroll. In 1900, Carrie B. Ward of Madisonville, Hamilton County, was a widow with 3 children aged 2 to 8, the youngest born Jan 1898.

Madisonville now has a Mayor. At the meeting of the Council of that village last night J. A. Ward was chosen to fill the unexpired term of ex-Mayor Lonney, who left under sensational circumstances a few weeks ago. Mr. Ward was a member of the Council, and his election to the Mayorality created a vacancy in that body which he as Mayor had the right to fill by appointment.

J. Anderson Ward, late Mayor of Madisonville, was carried to his last rest in Laurel Cemetery Sunday afternoon. The ceremony was conducted under the auspices of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge. Rev. D. W. Cox preached the sermon.
