Notes for: William Maples

William and his wife, Lydia Bodine Maples, were members of the Paw Paw Baptist Church in Sevier County, Tennessee where both were received by letter in June of 1823. They were dismissed by letter in November of 1824. In October of 1825, the church clerk wrote both of them requesting them to join a church where they resided or return the dismissmal letters. They appear on the 1830 Census of Jackson County, Alabama. By 1840, he had married his second wife, Jane Reynolds. On October 8, 1851, in Marshall County, Alabama, James Noah Maples, a son of William and Lydia Maples married Mary Wells, daughter of Jobe N. and Ann Bodine Wells, a granddaughter of James Bodine who was the brother of Lydia Bodine Maples.

The names of William's parents, his birth year, and birth place came from a web site on the Internet. As of September 1998, this site was located at http://www.jps.net/glad/genealogy. For questions about this site, write to glad@jps.net.

Information on this site also said that Lydia's mother was named Ann, but this doesn't seem to fit. Lydia's mother was most likely Winifred as it is given here.
