Obituary, Delaware State News (Dover, Del.) of 2 Dec 2015.
WYOMING - Amanda Hurd was born in Wyoming to the late Emanuel and Lydia Schrock. Amanda worked for over 20 years as an USDA state inspector. Upon her retirement, she worked at the Donut Connection in Milford, a job she enjoyed as she got to meet new people and serve her regulars. Amanda was a loving wife, mother, and most importantly grandmother. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Almost every single picture she owned was of her grandchildren. In her younger days she enjoyed dancing and going for walks. She had quite the green thumb, and loved caring for her houseplants. If she was not home or visiting her grandchildren, she could be found at Halls Restaurant enjoying a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee. She took her role as a back seat driver seriously as she made sure whoever she was riding with stayed within the speed limit, a trait her family found amusing. Amanda was not only loving, but will also be remembered as kind, wise, and respectful, something she made sure to pass along to her children,. She was outgoing and never bashful to strike up a conversation with an old friend. Her spunky and adventurous spirit will be greatly missed. Amanda is preceded in death by her brother, Amos Schrock; and sisters, Katie Bailey and Mary Wothers. Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Robert W. Hurd Jr. of Camden; her children, Tarri (Dave) Clairmont of Dover, Gerry (Audrey) Bodine of Panama City, FL, Charles (Sabine) Bodine of Germany, Connie (Bruce) Bennett of Camden/Wyoming, David (Natalie) Bodine of Dover; brothers, Moes, Jack, Bill, Pete, John, Toby Schrock; sister, Wanda McGinnis; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. Services will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 7 pm at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
