Mrs. Ruth B. Burd, 62, who retired after 24 years as a switchboard operator for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., died Dec. 4 at Easton Hospital. She was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. A daughter of the late Robert M. and Margaret Flynn Bodine, Mrs. Burd resided at 472 East Washington Ave. She was born in Alpha. Services were held Saturday morning at DeVoe Funeral Home, Washington, followed by a funeral mass at noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a member. Interment was in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton. Survivors include her husband, Lyman Burd; a son, Robert W., Washington; a brother, James Gallaway, Narberth, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
