Notes for: Esther Vernie Bodine

The 1920 census of Meigs County records Esther's age as 4 years and 3 months on 1 January of that year establishing her birth in October 1915. However, the records of Euchee School, Meigs County, record that Esther was in the 8th grade during the school term of 1930-1 when her teacher, Albert D. Ward, noted her birthdate as 19 January 1915. Esther retired 30 June 1980 as a payroll clerk following 35 years service with Standard, Coosa, Thatcher Mercerizing, in Chattanooga. In her mid-70's, Esther developed Alzheimer's Disease and later dementia. She was cared for for many years by her husband Elmer and in 2003 was placed in the care of St. Barnabas Nursing Home where she died. She was buried in Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery.

Ernest Bowling was buried in Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery. He had been employed as a foreman with Standard, Coosa, Thatcher Mercerizing in Chattanooga for 30 years. His death came as a result of a myocardial infarction. Elmer Keller retired in 1978 after 35 years service with Crane Enamel Company.

Elmer Keller served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa. He retired in 1978 after 35 years service with Crane Enamel Company. Elmer Keller was buried in Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery. His obituary appeared in the Chattanooga Times Free Press of 1 July 2007.
