The Register of Births for Meigs County recorded the birth of Octavia Bodine as 15 Sept 1911. However, J. N. Ewing, who taught the 5th grade at Euchee School, in Meigs County, during the 1922-3 school year, recorded her birthdate as 11 Sept 1911, a date Octavia used throughout her life.

Austin and Octavia Rucker were buried in Kingston Memorial Gardens, in Kingston, Roane County. Austin had retired 31 Dec 1976 from the Union Carbide Corporation at Oak Ridge as an iron worker following 32 years of service. He died at his home in Kingston having suffered with cancer for two years.
