Notes for: Christopher Wycliffe
This family comes from An History of Richmondshire, in the North Riding of the County of York; together with those parts of the Everwicschire of Domesday which form The Wapentakes of Lonsdale, Ewecross, and Amunderness, in the Counties of York, Lancaster, and Westmoreland, by Thomas Dunham WHITAKER. London: Longman, Hurst, Rees (and others), 1823. 2 volumes. Here is the info given there on this family:
Christopher Wycliffe, married, and was living 1575.
I believe Christopher's wife's name could be the Dorothy given in Joan (Jackson) Wycliffe's will. Her name there was written "Dorothe Wykeelyffe." It did not say that she was the wife of Christopher Wycliffe, but it did call her Joan's "sister-in-law." Dorothy was either Christopher's wife or his sister since this Christopher's brother Henry mentions a John Thompson as his brother-in-law in his will.
