Lexington; BODINE Jack Bailey, 88, of Cape Coral, FL, died March 14 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Amato Bodine. Both are formerly of Lexington, KY. He was the president of Qwik Tool & Manufacturing Co. Other survivors include three daughters, Tina Bodine Croley, of Alexandria, VA; and Jill Ann Bodine and Jacqueline Lee Mossessa of Florida; 1 son, Dan Bodine of Kentucky; and one stepson, Norman Grey Sutherland III, formerly of Kentucky. No flowers requested. A private burial is planned in Lexington. Kerr Brothers-Main St. in charge of arrangements.

In 1941, Jack B. Bodine lived in Columbus, Ohio. In 1942, Jack and Dolores Bodine lived in Dayton, Ohio where Jack worked as a stockman in a Western Auto Store. On 3 April 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Jack and Jean Bodine apparently divorced and subsequently remarried as the Kentucky Birth Records note the mother of Christina Marie Bodine as Jean Amato.

Dolores Cleo Grottke applied for a SSN in October 1939 and reported she was born 4 Jan 1921 in Dayton, Ohio as dau. of John J. & Rosa (Gerspacher) Grottke. In November 1943 she reported her name as Dolores Cleo Grottke Bodine and in August 1956 as Dolores Bennett. She died 14 Jan 2006. Her last residence was in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. At her death, her birth date was reported to the SSA as 4 Jan 1924.

Delores C. "Dee" Grottke Bennett, 82, of 6307 S.R. 256, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at King's Daughters' Hospital. She was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of John Sr. and Rose Gershbacher Grottke. She was raised in Dayton, and was a waitress there for most of her life. She moved to Madison in 1977, co-owning and managing Shipley's Tavern for 13 years. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and also a member of the Milton Athletic Club. She enjoyed shopping, socializing, making ceramics and crocheting. Surviving are two sons, Dan Bodine of Richmond, Ky., and Ed Bennett of Hanover; one daughter, Patricia Hampson of Hanover; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Eleanor Hasting and Rosie Riegelspeger. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Janet Ann Bodine, 79, Ormond Beach, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at her home. She was born March 27, 1927, in Urbana, Ohio. She moved to this area in 1984 from Dayton, Ohio. Janet was a longtime employee of Publix Supermarkets. She was a beloved mother who is survived by her daughters, Jill Bodine and Jackie Bodine, both of Ormond Beach; and her son-in-law, Kevin Mosesso, Ormond Beach. Jean Amato Bodine, 91, of Woodbridge, Va., died May 24 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late S.J. Amato and Christine Mangione Amato of Lexington, Ky. Survivors include son N.G. Sutherland III of Lexington; daughter Tina Croley (Michael Newhouse) of Woodbridge; and granddaughter Jackie Spagnola (Martin) of Chicago. Jean was the beloved sister of Robert Amato (Carole) of Alexandria, Va.; the late Anthony "Buddy" Amato (Valerija); and the late S. Joseph Amato Jr. (Edna, deceased). Her husband of 38 years, Jack B. Bodine, died in 2011. His son, Daniel Bodine of Richmond, Ky., is part of her extended family. At her request, there will be no service. Burial will be at 10 a.m. June 17 at Calvary Cemetery, 874 W. Main St., Lexington.
