Daughter of Surrogate Judge Mr. Reed of St. Lawrence County, New York. She was born in Vermont, grew to adulthood at Canton, St. Lawrence County, and settled at Waterloo in 1836.
Eliza married Royal McCurdy on February 25, 1836 at Waterloo, New York. They had at least three children; two daughters and one son.
Waterloo, March 17 — Mrs. Eliza McCurdy, the oldest resident of Waterloo, yesterday celebrated the ninety-fifth anniversary of her birth at her home in Williams St. A large company of friends gathered at her home and the venerable woman was the recipient of many handsome gifts. Mrs. McCurdy is in excellent health and preserves her activities to a marked degree. She daily performs her household duties and reads the newspapers with a lively interest in the world's doings. Mrs. McCurdy is the widow of Royal McCurdy, late of this place, and the daughter of the late County Judge and Surrogate Reed of St. Lawrence county." (March 17, 1906, The Syracuse Journal)
"Mrs. Eliza McCurdy, one of the oldest residents of this county, died at two o'clock Saturday morning, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. William Laing, on West Williams Street. Deceased was born at Springfield, Vermont, on March 15th, 1811, and had resided in Seneca county over seventy years, and in Waterloo over sixty years. She is survived by one son, Chas. R. McCurdy, who resides in the west; three daughters, Mrs. Ettie Soule and Mrs. Mary Brignall, both of Rochester, and Mrs. Lucinda J. Bodine, of this village."
