Robert P. Bodine, 62, Kokomo, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo, comforted by his wife. He was born on April 7, 1953, in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Behner) Bodine. On Aug. 26, 1971, he married Tenna L. Combs. Robert was a 1971 graduate of Elston Senior High School. He went on to receive an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College. Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force: active duty 1971 - 1978 and reserves 1978 - 1996, earning the rank of Staff Sgt. He served his country in the Vietnam War period and again in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Robert retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2009 after 13 years of employment. He had previously worked at Grissom Air Force Base. Volunteer work was close to Bob's heart as he served his community for over 16 years. He belonged to the Indian Heights Volunteer Fire Department, later Taylor Township Fire Department, first as an EMT and later as EMT director. Bob was also a member of the Taylor Township Board of Trustees, the Taylor Lions Club and the Naphtali Masonic Lodge. Robert is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tenna Bodine, Kokomo; daughters, Loretta McNally, Kokomo, and Jessica (Dr. Won) Yi, Houston, Texas; mother, Dorothy Coursel, Michigan City, Indiana; grandchildren, Anna McNally, Connor McNally and Blake Owen Yi; sisters, Sue (Lloyd) Wood, Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Norma Nipple, Michigan City, Indiana, and Cindy Sims, Michigan City, Indiana. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Bodine. The family would like to give a special thank you to Waterford Place Health Campus and staff for the care they gave Bob. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team.
