Notes for: Phoebe Jane Williams

These are some old notes from Ronny where some are probably not valid now. We had thought Phoebe Jane was James's sister, but now it appears he was his wife.

In June 1850, Phebe J. Bodine, age 20, lived with her brother James in Hamptonburgh, Orange County and in June 1860, as Phebe J. Bodine, age 30, lived with him in Forest Lake, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

1870 (10 Aug) Hamptonburg, Orange Co.: Richard BOLTON 38 Ireland Dry Goods Clerk, Phebe 36 NY, Richard 6/12 NY, Hester BODINE 73 NY, 6 other unrelated persons.

In the newspaper obituary of her sister, Iantha Bodine Newkirk, in The Evening Gazette of 8 June 1881 she is referred to as Mrs. Bolton of New York. In the summons of the Orange County Supreme Court of 2 Nov 1896 she is named as Phoebe Bolton. Her whereabouts in the censuses of 1880 and 1900 remain to be established.
