Notes for: John Walter Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

In the 2006 newspaper obituary of his son Allen Bodine he is called Walter Bodine and in the 2010 newspaper obituary of his daughter Ilene Bodine Darbee, he is called J. Walter Bodine. Other scattered references name his son John Bodine as John Bodine, Jr., thereby establishing his full name as John Walter Bodine. In the city directories of Bay City, Michigan between 1944 and 1957 he is listed most often as Walter J. Bodine, assistant foreman and later as foreman of the Jennison Hardware Company. He seems to have been long deceased as he does not appear in the Social Security death Benefits Index and presumably having been born around 1918 or 1919, cannot be readily located in the censuses of 1920 or 1930.

Walter J. Bodine appears in the 1957 Bay City, Michigan City Directory with his wife Alvina J., but the 1958 directory lists Alvina J. Bodine as the widow of Walter J.

On 5 June 1917, John Walter Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Bay City, Michigan. He reported his birth as 4 March 1895 in Spring Valley, Illinois, that he was single and employed as a Car Inspector for the Michigan Central Railroad Company.

In 1942, he registered for the World War II draft in Bay City, Michigan when he reported his birth as 4 March 1895 in Bureau County, Illinois and that Gust Arndt of Linwood, Michigan is his next of kin.
