Mary F. Zambon (nee Bodine) passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 at 90 years of age. Born in Elwood, Illinois to the late Thomas (1969) and Marie Bodine (1946), Mary was a stepdaughter to her mother, the late Jessie Bodine (1998). Mary was the beloved wife of the late James Zambon; loving mother of James Zambon (Barbara), Judy Zambon, Lisa Stump (Jack), and Theresa Meyer (Scott); cherished grandmother of J. Ryan Zambon (Brianna), Caitlin Murphy (Michael), Keira Bergvall (Daniel), Renee Ginsterblum, Anthony Ginsterblum, Adam Ginsterblum, Carrie Stump (Avery Whitaker), Courtney Kureshi (Rakeeb), James Meyer, and Mei Lin Meyer; great grandmother of Emma, Madeline, Zachary, James, Lucy, Rhys, Kyle, and Leah; dear sister of Veronica Mahoney (late Dan), Jessie Cambic, the late Thomas Bodine (Nancy), and (late) James Bodine (late Jean). Mary earned her high school diploma from St. Francis Academy in Joliet, IL. She graduated from Illinois State University with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1956. At the beginning of her career, Mary taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Symerton, Illinois. She taught elementary education in the Wilmington and Ford Central School Districts. She also was a substitute teacher for Assumption Catholic School in Coal City, IL, Piper City Schools (IL), and Crossville Schools (TN.) Mary especially enjoyed teaching first grade. While living in Piper City, IL, Mary was an active member of St. Peter parish through her involvement with the church choir and CCD education. After she and her husband retired to Fairfield Glade, TN, she sang with the choir at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (Fairfield Glade, TN.) In 2010, Mary moved to Medford, NJ to reside with her son Jim and his wife Barbara. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, 40 Jackson Road, Medford, NJ on Thursday April 24th from 11 am to 12 pm. Mass will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be private.
