She was Catharine Bodine, age 10 in 1870 and Kate Bodine, age 18 in 1880, living with her parents. The marriage of Edward Cowdrey and Katharine M. Bodine was reported in The New York Times of 20 June 1896. In 1900, Edward and Catherine Cowdrey lived in Montclair, Essex County, New Jersey in the home of Catherine's sister Emily Colman. The census noted Edward was 79 years old compared to his wife of 4 years, Catherine, aged 39.

COWDREY---At Montclair, N.J., on Jan. 10, Edward M. Cowdrey, formerly of East Orange. Funeral services on Friday from his residence, 204 Claremont Av., on arrival of 2:30 train from Barclay St. ferry, New York.

Married. On June 17, by the Rev. Elliot W. Brown, at Glen Ridge, Katherine M. Cowdrey to Carl J. Hassforther of Montclair, N.J.
In 1920, Catherine was married to her 2nd husband, Carl J. Hassforther, manager of an importing business and living in Montclair. Living with them was Catherine's widowed sister, Emily Colman. In 1930, Carl and Katherine Hassforther still lived in Montclair. Katherine's brother, Harry Bodine, lived with them.
The 1935 Montclair, New Jersey City Directory lists Carl J. Hassforther as "died Dec. 2 1933 age 84." Katharine M. widow of Carl lived at 49 N. Fullerton Ave.
She survived the death of her brother Edward Bodine in June 1943, named as Mrs. Catherine Hassforther of Bloomfield (Essex County), New Jersey. Cemetery records for Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, Essex County, list Katherine Hassforther's death on 12 Feb 1949 and burial there.
