Notes for: Milton Sidney Bodine, Dr.
Ronny also sent me this:
1860 Logan, Dearborn Co., IN: Jacob KUHN 28 AL farmer, Ann 33 OH, Milton 17 IN, Ann M. 11 IN.
Milton Bodine and Sarah Ann Kuhn are named as the parents of their son Milton Bodine in his Illinois death record. Sarah Bodine, daughter of William Claudius and Nancy (Clark) Boatman, married 2ndly, Samuel Rudisal (1812-1850) on 5 Aug 1848 in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana and 3rdly, Jacob Kuhn on 7 May 1858 in Dearborn County, Indiana.
From Ronny Bodine (Oct. 12, 2020):
SUMMARY. There are claims that Milton was the son of Elisha Bodine, but as Milton was not named in the family bible seems to eliminate that claim. Also, the two sons in the appropriate age group living at home with Elisha in 1830 were John (1814) and Francis (1815) at a time when Milton would have been 12. He appears only in the 1860 census where he reported he was born in Ohio. He can be placed in Dearborn County, Indiana at the birth of his son Milton on 7 Oct 1842. But although there are other Bodines, including Elisha Bodine, known from land records to be living in Dearborn County in the time period 1835 to 1849, there is no record that associates him with them.
1st marriage--about 1841--SARAH ANN BOATMAN.
Resident on 7 Oct 1842 in Logan Township, Dearborn County, Indiana at the birth of his son Milton.
Note: Is it a mere coincidence that William A. Bodine sold land to a Boatman 1842-1844 in Dearborn County, Indiana?
This is a deed from Deed Book U Aug 1842--Jan 1844. The deed is apparently difficult to read and the first name of Boatman is illegible. Bodine would be William Alsworth Bodine 1794-1883.
Milton S. Bodine attended the Eclectic Medical Institute 1845-1846. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio this branch of medicine made use of botanical remedies and were considered doctors who practiced with a philosophy of "alignment with nature."
