Notes for: Joseph Henry Bodine, Sr.
It is an assumption that this Joseph H. Bodine is the son of Henry and Jane Bodine, but this needs more investigation.

From Ronny Bodine:
From Montgomery County, Maryland Marriage Records:
Joseph Henry Bodine AND Elizabeth Fran. Stone were married 7 Sept 1861.
Joseph Bodine cannot be located prior to his appearance in the 1860 census when he was already 46 years of age. In both 1860 and 1870 he reports his birthplace as Virginia and his children report the same for him in subsequent censuses. Based upon this scant information it is believed that he is identical with the Joseph H. Bodine who is attested 1836-1842 in Loudoun County, Virginia as security at three marriages there: 31 Dec 1836 Thomas Lemon to Mariah Bodine, 13 June 1840 Andrew M. Cridler to Rachel Jane Smallwood and 19 Feb 1842 William Ellmore to Mariah Lemon. One may reasonably assume that Joseph H. Bodine was Joseph Henry Bodine, the name borne by his son and grandson. If this identification proves accurate, then he is likely the son of Henry Bodine (1780-1855/60) of Loudoun County who, in the 1830 census has a male aged 15-19 in his household and in 1840 has a male aged 20 to 30 and who cannot otherwise be accounted for. In 1860-1870, Joseph Bodine lived in Montgomery County, Maryland. In 1860, he was single and aged 46 and in 1870 at age 56 lived with his wife and children engaged as a carpenter. In 1900, Elizabeth Bodine, age 62, and widowed, lived in Potomoc, Montgomery County, Maryland with her sons John and Charles. She reported having borne 9 children of whom 6 were living.
Burials in Hermon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Caderock Springs, Montgomery County, Maryland.
