HOMER - Howard N. Bodine, 26, of 96 James St. died Monday, an apparent suicide, according to state police. Bodine's body was discovered at 8 p.m. that day in a room in the Riverside Motel here, police said. The cause of death was listed as asphyxiation. Bodine was born in Auburn, a son of Harry C. and Genevieve Sorendo Bodine. Before moving to Homer about four months ago, Bodine lived in Cortland and Austin, Texas. He was a 1972 graduate of Moravia Central School and a former employee of Wilson Sporting Goods and JTS Lumber Co., Cortland. Surviving are his parents, two brothers, Harry C. Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Michael of Homer; four sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Uhlemann of McGraw, Mrs. Brent (Maureen) Schkade of Austin, Texas, and Kathleen and Michelle, both of Cortland. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Barber Funeral Home, the Rev. Walter F. Cannan officiating. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
