Notes for: William Bodine
In 1860, this William Bodine was in the Census of Logansport, IN. I was checking into this Bodine possibly being the father of the Rosen Delmain that Stephanie Mansfield wrote to me about. The year 1860 is about the year Rosen was born and according to his own words, he was born in Logansport. That Rosen Delmain is actually been determined to be a Bodine by DNA evidence. However, without some documentation, one cannot know which Bodine was Rosen's ancestor. It is all speculation at this point. See Stephanie's research on Rosen Delmain on Ancestry for all the details on this.

When his son, William Hunt Bodine, applied for a SSN in January 1937, he reported his mother was named Mary Wells. This is supported by the obituary of Mrs. Esther Stewart published in the Middletown (NY) Daily Argus of 6 Feb 1895. Therein it stated "Mrs. Esther, widow of the late Enoch Stewart, died at the residence of her sister, Mrs. William Bodine, on West Main street." Her named survivors include three brothers, Robert H. Wells, Gabriel L. Wells and Abner S. Wells, all of Middletown, and two sisters, Mrs. Keziah L. Doane, of Springside and Mrs. Wm. Bodine." Gabriel L. Wells died 3 Oct 1896 and in his obituary appearing in the Middletown Daily Argus of the same date, sister Elizabeth, widow of William Bodine, of this city, is named as a survivor.
