On 12 Sept 1918, Volna Gustavous Jacobs registered for the World War 1 draft in Smith Center, Smith County, Kansas. He reported he was born 27 Jan 1875, was a farmer, and Mrs. Sarah E. Jacobs (his 1st wife) was his next of kin. In Jan 1920, Jane Olive Bodine, age 40 and single, lived with her mother in Chicago, Illinois and was employed as a saleslady in infant wear. In Jan 1925, V. G. and Jennie Jacobs lived in Seneca, Kossuth County, Iowa and in 1930 in Garfield Township, Clay County, Iowa where Volna worked as a public school teacher.
