The birth records for the Bridgeport, Connecticut from 1855 to 1900 contain no record of the births of the three children attributed to John Bodine which occurred in 1878, 1879 and 1886. It seems very unlikely that John Bodine was born in Chicago, Illinois as claimed by his son Charles. Neither John Bodine nor his son Hilmer appears in the 1880 census.
