Betty Viola Hastings, daughter of the late John Perrin and Lucille Webb passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Born July 20, 1954 in Paragould, Arkansas, she was a current resident of Newport News, VA. Mrs. Hastings was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her loving husband, William "Shad" Hastings. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Smitherman, Goldie Fugate, Johnny Perrin and Charlie Perrin. She was the mother to Rosemary Brunet and Harry and Barry Bodine and step-mother to William Hastings and Robert Hastings. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer Dryden, Jessica Carey, Hunter Bodine, Amber Bennett, Zachary Hastings, Tiffany O'Donnell, Kayla Hastings and Corey Hastings. She was also a great-grandmother to Koraleigh McCort, Levi Foskey, Tyler Carey, Sophie Holcomb, Walter “Owen” Holcomb, Luke Lynch and Elissa Scoville. On Valentine's weekend, a spreading of her ashes will be performed at the resting place of her husband, William “Shad” Hastings in Delaware. Cremation Society of Virginia assisted the family with arrangements.
