Notes for: Roy F. Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

From The Morning News (Wilmington, Del.) of 24 Jan 1938.
Marriage Licenses for Cecil County issued 23 Jan: Roy Bodine, 22, and Mamie M. Melvin, 27, Magnolia, Del.

From Delaware Federal Census Records:
1940 (12 April) Kent Co.: Roy BODINE 24 DE Farm Hand, Mamie 32 DE wife, Margaret 1 DE dau, Doris 1 DE dau.

From Social Security Applications and Claims:
Roy Bodine applied for a SSN in February 1946 and reported he was born 17 Aug 1916 in Henderson, Maryland, son of John & Lillian (Wiggins) Bodine. He died in January 1979. [Note: Conflict between the birth date he gave as 1916 and that on his grave marker as 1917. Yet, in April 1940, his age should have been 23 if born in Aug 1916 and 22 if born in Aug 1917. If born in Aug 1916 he would be too close to his sister born in Feb 1916 so 1917 seems the better choice.]

From Delaware Death Records: Mamie Bodine died 16 June 1948 aged 42 of advanced pulmonary tuberculosis in Wilmington, New Castle County and was buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. Wife of Roy Bodine and daughter of Robert Melvin.

From Frederick County, Maryland Marriage Records:
Carl H. Lawson AND Dorothy E. Bodine were married 2 Oct 1982.
