ERNEST A. CRAIG, 71, of Colorado Springs died Saturday in a local hospice. He was the owner of Craig Trucking. He also had worked for Rocky Mountain Paving, Peter Kewitt and Culkomp Brothers excavating as a trucker for 39 years and had worked at Broderick Gibbons for Ross Trucking. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel with the Rev. Jim Johnson and Rose Croix officiating. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Mr. Craig was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Goodland, Kan., to Roy D. and Alma (Rose) Craig . He had been a resident of the area since 1957 and had also lived in Denver from 1946 to 1957. He served in the Army and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Craig was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Moose Lodge, the VFW No. 4051 and the Masonic Lodge No. 13. He also was a member of the Consistory of Denver No. 32 degree Mason, the Scottish Rite, the Alkaly Shriner and Teamsters Local No. 13. Mr. Craig was married June 22, 1946, in Englewood, to Jeanette ( Bodine ) Craig , who survives. He also is survived by two sons, Gene and Rick of Colorado Springs, three brothers, Sam and Paul, both of California, and Lee of Seattle; four sisters, Ruth English and Margaret Ruby, both of Denver, Winona Duncan of Spokane, Wash., and Betty McClung of California; and three grandchildren. Jeannette A. Craig, 79, died on March 30, 2002 in Colorado Springs. She was born on August 3, 1922, in Woodston, Kansas to Irving H. and Millie C. Bodine. She was married on June 23, 1949, to Ernest A. Craig. Her parents and her husband precede her in death. She was store manager for Fox Photo for 15 years. Survivors include sons Gene Craig and Rick Craig ; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be on Friday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Swan Law Cascade Chapel. Burial will be at Ft.
