Miss Lillian Bodine, daughter of F. A. Bodine of Mesa and Erwin Stapley were married in Phoenix Saturday afternoon.

She was Mary L. Bodine in 1900, Lillian Bodine, age 11, in 1910 and Mary L. Bodine, age 20 in 1920, living with her parents. In 1930, Lynn and Mary Stapley lived in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona where Lynn worked as the manager of a hardware store.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary L. Stapley, 60, who died Monday in her home, 2114 N. Ninth Ave., will be at 10 a.m. today in the Second Ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Third Avenue and Latham. Bishop Glenn Pace will officiate. Burial will be in Mesa Cemetery. Mrs. Stapley was the wife of L. Erwin (Dutch) Stapley, vice president and general manager of the O. S. Stapley Co. Born in Elberton, Wash., Mrs. Stapley, who moved to Phoenix in 1919, was a graduate of Tempe Normal School, now Arizona State University. She taught school in Mesa two years. She married Stapley June 14, 1924. She and her husband lived in Chandler until 1928, when they moved to Mesa. They lived in Mesa 21 years before moving to Phoenix in 1949. Mrs. Stapley was a member of the Woman's Club of Phoenix and the Phoenix Totaryanns. She also was active in Welfare work. Besides her husband, Mrs. Stapley is survived by two sons, Sam E., Case Grande, and Robert B., Chandler; two daughters, Mrs. L. B. Ellsworth, Globe, and Mrs. Frank D. Ortwine, Phoenix; a brother, Charles L. Bodine, prior, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Stella Davison, Garfield, Wash.; and 13 grandchildren.

L.E. "Dutch" Stapley, 78, a native of Mesa who had served as president, general manager and vice chairman of the board of O.S.Stapley Co., died Aug. 26, 1979, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Stapley was a member of the board of the Central Arizona Project Association, Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Mesa School Board, Mesa Community Hospital and the Roosevelt Rough Riders. He held leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints priesthood quorums and Sunday school organizations. A member of the Rotary club 50 years, he received distinguished service recognition from clubs in Mesa and Phoenix. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Phoenix LDS Stake Center, 4601 W. Encanto. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Gibbons-Bunker Mortuary, 33 N. Sirrine, Mesa. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; children, Mary Jean Ellsworth, Polly Ann Ortwin, Sam and Dean; stepsons, Glenn, Terry Joe and Dan Bingham; two sisters, a brother; 31 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
