Notes for: Algot Edvin ("Ed") Bodin

ALGOT EDVIN BODIN was the son of Oscar Adolf BODIN (1852-1928) and Johanna Carolina Olofsson (1859-1935) who did not emigrate to America. Algot immigrated from Sweden in 1917 at the time being unmarried. Although his name was spelled BODINE on some occasions the predominent spelling was BODIN, appearing thus consistently in Kansas City censuses and was reported as such to the Social Security Administration at his death.

In 1942, Algot Edwin BODIN of Kansas City, Kansas, registered for the World War II Draft. He reported he was born 30 Oct 1891 in Wisby [sic=Visby], Sweden and worked for the Delano Real Estate Company. [Note: His middle name of Edwin, Americanized here, is Edvin in Swedish.]

Mrs. Adena M. Bodine, 88, of 4321 Eaton, Kansas City, Kansas, died Friday at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. She was a life-long area resident. Mrs. Bodine was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 4244 Genesee. She leaves her husband, Algot E. Bodine of the home; a son, Edwin Bodine, 5820 Beverly, Mission; a brother, E. W. Anderson, Lee's Summit, and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Gates Chapel. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church. [Note: The Kansas City Star of 18 Dec 1976 reported her name as BODIN.]

Algot E. Bodine, 90, died Saturday at a nursing home at 9700 W. 62nd St., Merriam, where he lived. Mr. Bodine was born in Gotland, Sweden, and had lived in the Kansas City area 57 years. He worked as a carpenter for various companies in the area before retiring in 1955. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He leaves a son, Ed Bodine, Mission; and one granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Moriah Chapel; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the chapel. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church.
