From Hawaii Island Obituaries.
Henry was born on March 22, 1936 in Honolulu, the first of four children born to Henry L. Bodine Sr. and Ellen P. Kane. Henry was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Upon discharge, Henry spent most of his career as a popular tour bus driver and car salesman before retiring at age 65 in Aiea, his residence since 1974. Henry was extremely fortunate to have found love twice in his life. He was married first to Patricia Bodine (nee Dumancas) who passed away in 2007, and then to Elaine Keb-Bodine (nee Wong and formerly Elaine Keb). Henry is survived by two children with Patricia: son Robert Bodine and daughter Lori Bodine; and his only grandchild Matthew Jones. He had three siblings: Allen Bodine, Sr.; Kehaulani (Bill) Betterton of Missouri; and William "Dukie" Bodine who predeceased Henry by three weeks. With Elaine, Henry is survived by step-children Charlene Kuuipo Lorenzo, Pauline (Greg) Yamane, Francis Kalani (Donna) Keb, Paul (Vernalani) Keb, and Henry (Laura) Keb; thirteen step-grandchildren, and fourteen step-great-grandchildren. Henry's hobby after retiring was crafting walking canes out of guava wood, onto which he would carve Hawaiian fish to give to someone in need. He was a very handy man who could repair practically anything. He found great satisfaction late in life in becoming a member of the New Hope Church in Hawaii Kai. It is an understatement to say that he enjoyed travelling with family and friends to Las Vegas, his home away from home. Henry loved his family and friends and opened his heart and home to all. He will be dearly missed. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., and service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. Aloha attire is suggested.
