From Monmouth County, New Jersey Marriage Records:
Spencer D. BORDINE, 25 and Cora BROWN, 23, both single, were married 6 April 1889 at Long Branch.

In 1900-1920, Spencer Bodine lived with his family in Madison Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey where he engaged in farming. In 1900, he was recorded as Spencer Bordine. He reported that in 10 years of marriage his wife had borne 3 children of whom 2 were then living, both with them. In 1930, Spencer and Cora Bodine lived in Long Branch Township, Monmouth County where he worked as a laborer. In April 1940, Cora Bodine, 73, widowed, still lived in Long Branch Township.

Spencer D. Bodine died March 5, 1937 at Long Branch, New Jersey, intestate, leaving him surviving the following, all of whom are now living: Cora Bodine, his wife; Russell Bodine, a son; Thurston B. Bodine, a son.

Long Branch---Spencer D. Bodine, 17 [sic=71], of 619 Wall street, retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon at 3:40 at his home. He was born in Cheesequake, the son of John and Amelia Dayton Bodine. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cora Brown Bodine; two sons, Russell and Thurston B., both of West Long Branch and six grandchildren. Mr. Bodine had been sick for about two weeks, the first time in his life. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at his home with the Rev. Herbert J. Lane, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be made in Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport, under the supervision of Willis A. Woolley, director.

Long Beach [sic=Long Branch]---Mrs. Spencer Bodine, 92, of 619 Wall St., died Friday at Westwood Hall Nursing Home. She was born in Browntown, Madison Township, and had lived here for the past 31 years. She is survived by two sons, S. Russell Bodine and Thurston B. Bodine, both of West Long Branch; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Woolley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
