Jane Bodine Hernandez, born February 6, 1913 in Peoria, Ill. to James Issac Bodine and Ida Bodine. She passed from this life at home surrounded by her family. Grammy attended Eureka College for 2 years and graduated from Trinity University with a BA in Education. She was married to Damaso Hernandez, a school teacher, artist, coach and founder of the Wolverine Help-A-Boy Camp. Grammy worked during WW II for the US Office of Censorship. She taught school at Woodlawn Hills Elementary and Cotton Elementary for 24 years. Grammy was a past member of San Antonio Master Singers, Tuesday Musical Club Choir and the First Unitarian Universalist Church choir. Her best friends were Kim Yerly, Jean Grahm, Petie Rickabaugh and Evelyn Geer. She is survived by her son, Randall Bodine Hernandez, wife Bonalyn, Grandson Ryan Bodine Bivin and his wife Juanita, grand daughter Heather Bivin and fiancee' T.J. Speers. A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio, located at 7150 IH-10 West, San Antonio, Texas, 78213 on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 700 pm.
