Glenn E. Bodin, age 81, Washburn, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1928 in Washburn, the son of Adolph and Viola (Bogenrief) Bodin. In 1946, he graduated from Washburn's Walker High School. He was in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. Glenn married Marjorie Havel in Belleville, Kansas. He worked with his father as a commercial fisherman. Glenn also worked for DuPont and Calvin's Construction. He was a maintenance mechanic for the National Park Service, working for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Guadalupe Mountains National Park in West Texas, Valley Forge National Park, Pa. and then returned home to Washburn to retire. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Bayfield. Glenn enjoyed boating and he loved the Apostle Islands and knew them very well. He is survived by two children, Karen (Paul) Johnson, Washburn and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Richards, Texas; two grandchildren; a brother, Wayne (Carol) Bodin, Superior; a sister, Edna Arvidson, Minnetonka, Minn.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; and two brothers, Clifford and Ralph. A funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 30, at Faith Baptist Church, Bayfield, with Pastor Dale Phelps officiating. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery, Washburn. Memorials may be made to Regional Hospice or to the Wood Lake Bible Camp, Grantsburg.
