John Edward "ED" Bodine, 91 of Arab passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 in Hospice Family Care Facility, Huntsville. Mr. Bodine was born in Arab, Alabama April 5, 1927, the son of Raymond H and Clara Hood Bodine. He served with Honor and Courage in the United States Army during World War II and was Honorably Discharged as Private First Class. He worked as a truck driver for Commercial Carriage, enjoyed farming, raising cattle and was the owner, operator of Bodine's San/Ann on the Guntersville Highway. The Quilt of Valor seen draping the casket during the visitation and service was presented to John Edward Bodine by the Lakeside Quilters in honor of his military service in World War II. He is survived by his wife: Rosie Sheppard Bodine of Arab; step daughter: Diann Whisenant Lane of Arab; a granddaughter: Lauren (Randy) Harnack, a grandson: Jonathan (Jennifer) Lane; two great grandsons and two great granddaughters; a sister: Mary Sue (Perry) Yancey of Arab and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, his church family and many dear friends and neighbors; preceded in death by a grandson: Joshua Lane, his parents: Raymond and Clara Bodine, a sister: Marie Fleming and a brother: Charles Bodine. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Arab First Baptist Church, Dr. Clint Landry, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel, directing. Pallbearers will be Joey Harnack, Jack Hamilton, Jimmy Whisenant, Perry Yancey, Clarence Bagwell, Earl Talley and Michael Yancey. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Dr. Michael Brown. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Gober Funeral Chapel. He will also Lie-In-State at the Church on the day of the Service from 1 to 2 p.m.
