In 1920, Earl Bodine, age 4, was living in Strasburg, Shelby County, Illinois with his mother Carrie Bodine, age 22, who was noted as single and his grandmother, Hannah Bodine. In 1930, Earl Bodine, age 14, was living only with his grandmother Hannah Bodine, in Strasburg.

Earl Bodine, 54, of Berlin, head custodian of New Berlin Schools in Community District 16 died at 7:15 a.m. Friday at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was formerly a member of the Berlin Village Board for 18 years and acted as mayor for six years. Bodine also served for eight years on the Sangamon County Board of Supervisors. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Berlin Christian Church with Rev. Harvey Waddelow of Danville officiating. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl, in 1963. His is survived by his wife, Beulah; five sons, James, Phillip, Charles, all of rural New Berlin, Glenn of Berlin and Robert, at home; two daughters, Mrs. June Bietsch of Berlin, Joyce, at home; and 12 grandchildren. The body is at McCullough Funeral Home at New Berlin.

BERLIN - Beulah M. Bodine, 81, of Berlin died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, in her home. She was born April 16, 1918, in rural New Berlin, the daughter of Charles E. and Grace E. Buchanan Baker. She married Earl M. Bodine in 1939 in St. Louis; he preceded her in death in 1969. Two sons, Carl and Charles Bodine, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Bodine, a homemaker, was a member of Berlin Christian Church for more than 60 years and the Loyal Women's Class of the Berlin Christian Church. Survivors: four sons, James (wife, Barbara) and Glen (wife, Marlene) Bodine, both of Berlin, Phillip (wife, Betty) Bodine of Pleasant Plains and Robert (wife, Beth) Bodine of Petersburg; two daughters, June (husband, Jim) Koontz of Hillsboro and Joyce (husband, Bill) Corgan of Berlin; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Russell (wife, Mary Frances), Floyd (wife, Mary Elizabeth) and Paul (wife, Nora) Baker, all of Springfield; five sisters, Mary Cheffy and Opal Tuxhorn, both of Springfield, Myrtle Koke of Tallula, Alice Crow of California and Helen (husband, Gerald) Horn of New Berlin; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Berlin Christian Church, the Rev. Jon Morrissette officiating. Burial: Berlin Cemetery. McCullough-Delaney Funeral Home in New Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
