Grace Marie Ray, 88, of Olathe, KS (formerly of Paola, KS), passed away Friday, November 10, 2000, at her home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at the Wilson & Son Funeral Home, Paola; burial will follow the services in the Paola Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Glenn M. Ray, 97, of St. Joseph, Mo., died at Saxton Riverside Care Center on Dec. 26, 2008. He was born Sept. 26, 1911, in Kansas City, Kan., to James and Ida Frances Bowman Ray. He grew up in Kansas City, and on Dec. 31, 1932, he was united in marriage to Grace Marie Bodine in St. Joseph, Mo. They moved to a farm in rural Miami County. He worked for the Osawatomie Police Department for many years and later became the police chief in Paola in the late 1950s. In the late 1960s, he and his wife moved to Ottawa, and in the 1970s they moved to Olathe, where they were employed at the Johnson County juvenile detention home and as a security guard for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 1978. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Kenneth Ray; two grandchildren; three brothers, Norman, Clifford and John; and three sisters, Belma Benndorff, Berthel Day and Pauline Wright. Survivors are a son, Richard Ray of Olathe; a daughter, Joan Curnutte of St. Joseph, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Cremation.
