MAYBEE - Services have been set for Thelma J. Bodine, 65, of Maybee, who died of natural causes Monday morning in her home. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Liedel Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Don A. Brown, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Dundee, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born April 4, 1937, in Frenchtown Township, she was the daughter of Earl J. and Luella (Barkway) Stininger. She married Raymond C. Bodine Aug. 6, 1955, in Angola, Ind. She was a clerk at the Monroe Kmart store for 28 years, retiring in 1998, and a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling. Surviving are her husband; a son, Gerald of Monroe; three daughters, Bonnie Bodine of Ottawa Lake, Darlene (Steve) Jones of Dundee and Denise Bennett of Maybee; three brothers, Norman J. (Gerry) of Monroe, Melvin (Barbara) of Rockmart, Ga., and Calvin (Virginia) of Conyers, Ga.; a sister, Phyllis (Myron) Currier of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl J. Jr., and a sister, Mary E. Davis.

Raymond C. Bodine, age 85 of Maybee passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at MediLodge of Monroe. Born April 17, 1932 in Maybee, Raymond was the son of Claude and Edith (Schassberger) Bodine. A veteran of the United States Army, he faithfully served our country from April 1, 1952 until March 31, 1954. Raymond then was married to Thelma Jean Stininger on August 6, 1955. Sadly she preceded him in death February 10, 2003. Raymond worked for over 30 years for Chrysler at the Trenton Engine Plant. He then worked at Secure Self Storage. He was a past member of Monroe Boat Club and had been a Fireman with the London/Maybee/Raisinville Fire Department. Raymond enjoyed listening to country music, especially George Strait, Patsy Kline and Vince Gill. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his children: Darlene (Steven) Jones of Dundee, Denise Bennett of Dundee and Jerald Bodine of Monroe; three grandchildren: Crystal (Keith) Walther of Monroe, Jean Bennett of Dundee and Walice (Margarita) Bennett Jr. of Redford; as well as five great grandchildren: Kristina Walther, Kevin Walther, Cora-Jean Walther, Cole Walther, Esperanza Bennett; and his companion Phyllis Cooley In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Bonnie Bodine; a brother Stanley "Hatchey" Bodine and a half-brother Ralph Zieske. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at the Liedel Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 9061 Raisin St., Maybee. Friends may call Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services are pending for Thursday.
