Ewald F. Viefhaus, 88, of St. Charles, died Wednesday (June 16, 1993) at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles of congestive heart failure. Mr. Viefhaus was a retired heavy equipment operator and a 44-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Sixth Street and Boonslick Road, St. Charles. Among survivors are his wife, Dorothy F. Bodine Viefhaus of St. Charles; a daughter, Beverly Schaefer of St. Charles; two brothers, Erwin Viefhaus of north St. Louis County and Randolph Viefhaus of Ellisville; three sisters, Evelyn Edelen of Forestel, Verna Fick of south St. Louis County and Bernice Stratman of Creve Coeur; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
