Notes for: Denise Louise Bodine
From Ronny Bodine (May 20, 2024):
Obituary, Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Augusta, GA.
Denise Louise (Bodine) Faucett, age 79, of Martinez, Georgia, was called Home on April 16,2024, in the presence of her loving family. Born in Elmira, New York on October 27, 1944, to Eli and Carol June (Stone) Bodine, Denise was the apple of her father's eye, and the eldest of the four Bodine children. Denise grew up helping with the family's businesses, and whether it was mucking the Pedigree Leghorn chicken coops, serving homemade ice cream at The Dairy Bar, or helping out at the Chemung Speedrome concession stands, Denise loved being part of a close knit extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She enjoyed life-long friendships with her cousins, especially Camille Sechrist, with whom she continued to have at least one daily phone call with until her final day. Denise briefly attended SUNY Delhi before deciding on pursuing a career in cosmetology. She attended Kaiser beauty school in Syracuse, NY and later Bruno's School of Hair Design in Toronto, ON. She worked for many years at Green Hills Beauty Salon, and then became the manager of the Salon in Sibley's department store. While living in Syracuse, Denise gave birth to her three children: Kristen, Geoffrey, and Kara. Active in the Home Bureau, Denise was always having fun with neighbors and friends. She loved the holidays and was known for her Halloween antics, attending barn dances, and pickup truck Christmas caroling. Denise moved to North Carolina in 1984 to be closer to her parents and siblings. She eventually opened her own beauty salon in Pleasant Garden and became a very successful small town business owner. Her love for doing hair was only part of her success, as it was her kindness and compassion that drew her customers to follow her through her thirty plus years beautifying Guilford County. Denise touched not only her customers' hair, but also their lives, becoming a friend and confidant, and often called on for a final coiffure. She met the love of her life, Michael Faucett in 1987, and they were married in 1989. Through the years they made family their focus and curated a lifetime of memories through spending time with family whenever possible. Building memories with backyard bar-b-que's, family vacations from The Outer Banks to Daytona Beach or trips to Fredonia to see her grandsons, Denise's greatest treasures were her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Carol June Bodine, and is survived by her brothers Geoffrey (Lori), Brett (Kathi), and Todd (Janet) Bodine, her husband Michael, children Kristen (Gerald) Lockwood, Geoffrey Abbott, Kara (George) Blackburn, Grandchildren Michael and Jacob Lockwood and Blair Blackburn, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place on October 27, 2024, at a location to be disclosed. Donations to Alzheimer's Association ( www.ALZ.org ) to further research and development of a cure for Alzheimers and other dementias would be greatly appreciated.
