Obituary, Sly Family Funeral Home, Middlefield, Ohio.
Nancy Flick, 88, of Boardman, who was living at her daughter's home in Chardon, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020. She was born September 3, 1932 in Struthers, Ohio, to the late Walter and Alberta (Stewart) Bodine. She graduated from high school and entered the work force until she got married and became a homemaker and mom. She was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church for many many years. After her children were grown, she worked as a Home Health Aide with over twenty years of service and was awarded a commendation for her exceptional care as a "Runner-up Outstanding Home Aide" in the state of Ohio. Nancy was all about her family, and they were the primary joy in her life. She loved them dearly and carried them in her heart. She loved to cook and was known for her veggie soup with cabbage, and enjoyed baking homemade pretzels, pizzelles, and donuts for their Sunday family game night. She was an avid reader who loved murder mysteries and suspense thrillers. She always had a glass of iced tea with lots of ice along with some chocolates right by her side. Nancy loved family vacation trips to Cook's Forest and the ocean, which made many family memories. Grandma Nancy was known to not have a filter and she was often funny without even knowing it. She was hard of hearing and refused to wear a hearing aid, so when you spoke to her and she could not hear you, she would smile and nod. If you asked if she heard you, she would innocently laugh and say "no". Nancy was the strongest woman her daughter ever knew. She survived a lot over the past several years, including the loss of two sons, with grace, strength, and dignity. We now know she is now at peace with her sons Jim and Dale. Nancy is survived by her daughter Kathy (Gary) Brousseau, brothers Walt (Shirley) Bodine, Bill Bodine, Fritz (Marsha) Bodine, Geno (Michelle) Bodine, Lou (Chris) Bodine, Jeff (Maggie) Bodine, Bud (Tracy) Bodine, sister Karen Schwarz, grandchildren Lindsey (Braden) Cook, Michael (Gina) Flick, Hollie (James) Nevin, Jeremy Flick, Sgt. Major Ron (Ashley) Flick, Emily (Dave) Bitterman, Joshua Brousseau, Gabrielle (John) Brousseau, and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Jim Flick, her son Dale Flick, brother Jim Bodine, sister-in-law Judy Bodine, nephew Brian Bodine, Aunt Geddo and Uncle Bill, and several other family members May she rest in the palm of God's hand. She will be missed. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 13, 2020, at Riverside Cemetery at 110 Riverside Dr., Poland, Ohio at 12:00. There will be a Celebration of Life in her memory later. The family will share a meal immediately after the services.
