BOARDMAN – Betsy Ruth Bodine, 92, died Wednesday morning at the Hospice House.

She was born June 29, 1918, in Hubbard, a daughter of John J. and Beryl Beatty Schaeffer.

Mrs. Bodine was a graduate of East High School, Kent State University and Youngstown State University. She received her Bachelors in Education. She began her 33 year career in Education as a Principal for the Fowler School System, followed by years of elementary level teaching in the Girard and Youngstown Public School Systems, including Monroe, Hillman and Taft Elementary Schools.

She was a member of the Lockwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member of its Miriam Circle, the Delta Kappa Gamma, Mu Chapter, the Mahoning County Retired Teachers Association and the Youngstown Educators Association. Mrs. Bodine gave countless hours and energy to her church and to her community and will sadly missed by all who knew her.

Her husband, William E. Bodine, whom she married in 1944, died in 1970.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda L. Bodine of Boardman; a son, Bill (Beth Andersen) Bodine of Los Angeles; and a grandson, Billy Bodine, also of Los Angeles.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lynn Bodine; and two brothers, Paul and Jack Schaeffer.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, in Poland where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

Internment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery
