At the time he was a railroad conductor, the same occupation he held in 1920 as a resident of Swissville in Allegheny County (recorded as Calloway). According to her 1945 Ohio death certificate (no. 88642), Nellie died of colon cancer and was buried in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

From Pennsylvania Death Certificate of Thomas Callaway, married, conductor with Pittsburgh Railway Co., born 1 April 1875 in Baltimore, Maryland, died 22 April 1929 in Collier Township, Allegheny County, and buried in Homewood Cemetery.
