Dr. Francis S. Bodine, Kane, brother of Dr. Marc W. Bodine, this city, died Saturday evening, Dec. 20, 1952 at the Community Hospital, Kane. He had been ill for about four months. Born in Wellsboro in 1892, he attended the public schools there. He completed his premedical studies at Lafayette College and graduated in 1917 from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. During World War I he served in the Army with a British unit, and received a citation from the British government. Following service, he served his internship at the Philadelphia General Hospital, then opened his practice in Erie. He took eye, ear, nose and throat work at the New York Postgraduate Center and began practicing in Kane in 1932. During World War II he served as a captain in the Naval Reserve Medical Corps. Surviving in addition to his brother in this city are his wife, three children, Charles W., Kane; Francis, Baltimore, and Mrs. Paul Callahan, Springfield, Mass. and one grandchild. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the residence in Kane. Burial will be in Wellsboro.

KANE, Pa. --- Mrs. Maud R. (Barbara) Bodine, 88, of 302 Walnut St., died Tuesday (April 1,1980) in the Lutheran Home. Born Aug. 24, 1891, in Amagansett. N.Y., she was a daughter of Charles W. and Marietta Baker Rackett. In September, 1920, in Amagansett, she married Dr. F.S. Bodine, who died in 1952. Mrs. Bodine had attended East Hampton, N.Y. schools; was a 1914 graduate of Mount Holyoke College; in 1915, graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh; and she had been employed by the New York City Library. A resident of Kane for the past 48 years, she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Kane. Surviving are two sons, Charles Bodine of Kane and Francis Bodine of Leonardtown, Md.; a daughter, Barbara Calahan of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Samuel M. Cummings Funeral Home, 151 Greeves St., Kane, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Friday (April 4, 1980) at 1 p.m. The Rev. Jon Black, pastor of the First United Church of Kane, will officiate. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery, Wellsboro.
