ODESSA-- I. G. "Murt" Murchison, 86, of Odessa, passed from this life Tuesday, January 21, 2003. He was born July 30, 1916, to John Smith Murchison and Hattie Box Murchison in Crockett, Texas. He attended Crockett High School in Crockett, Texas. Murt married Laverne Bodine April 7, 1939, in Abilene and was the owner and operator of Wayside Radiator for 50 years and Daniels Radiator Distributorship for 15 years. He was the past president of the Motorcoach Association as well as the Garageman Association. Murt has been a resident of Odessa since 1936, and has attended Eisenhower Church of Christ and Parkview Church of Christ, of which he is a former member. He is survived by his wife, Laverne Bodine Murchison of Odessa; daughter, Ronda Gay Lyne of Odessa; granddaughter, Caleista Millican of Odessa; grandson, John Eric Lyne of San Antonio; brother, Billy Murchison; sister, Hattie Crow of College Station; sister, Nell Warden of Dallas; and two great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2003, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Burt Groves officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Lubbock Children's Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

ODESSA-- Laverne Murchison, 85, of Odessa, passed from this life Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Hospice House. She was born October 1, 1917, in Cooper, Texas. She attended Midland High School. Laverne married I.G. "Murt" Murchison on April 12, 1939, in Abilene and was the co-owner and operator of Wayside Radiator for 50 years and Daniel's Radiator Distributorship for 15 years. Laverne was a lifelong resident of Odessa/Midland, and attended Eisenhower Church of Christ and Parkview Church of Christ. Her husband, with whom she spent 63 years of marriage, preceded Laverne in death. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Gay Lyne of Odessa; granddaughter, Caleista Millican of Odessa; grandson, John Eric Lyne of San Antonio; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Burt Groves officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice House.
