SATANTA - Joe Kenneth Augerot, 50, died Tuesday at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, following a short illness. Born July 18, 1925 at Liberal, he married Barbara Gail Bodine, July 13, 1949 at Amarillo, Tex. He was a farmer and lifetime area resident. He was a member of Satanta United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 276, director of Satanta State Bank, county commissioner since 1972, former city council member and former Co-op board member. Survivors are widow; daughters: Mrs. Beverly Wasinger, Garden City; Mrs. Blenna Hoenig, Manhattan; sisters: Mrs. R. L. Madden and Mrs. Roy Jenkins, both of Liberal; Mrs. Duane Eagleston, Dodge City. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church; Rev. Merton Zeisset and Rev. J . R. Lawson. Burial will be in Satanta Cemetery. Friends may call until service time at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Family suggests memorials to Satanta Ambulance Fund in care of Satanta Drug Store or the funeral home. His eyes were donated to Lions Club Eye Bank.

SATANTA -- Barbara "Gail" Hale, 73, Satanta, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Via Christi RMC - St. Joseph Campus in Wichita. She was born Oct. 6, 1928, to Tom Sr. and Willie Pearl (Phillips) Bodine in Bowie, Ariz. She married Ray Davis in 1947. He died in 1948. She married Joe Kenneth Augerot July 13, 1949, in Amarillo, Texas. He died Sept. 23, 1975. She married Bill Hale Jan. 15, 1977, in Satanta. He survives. She moved to Satanta in 1942 from Borger, Texas. She was a homemaker. She had worked as a teller at the Satanta State Bank in Satanta. She was the first female county commissioner of Haskell County, where she served 14 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a former Secretary of the board of trustees of the Satanta Hospital District from 1979 until 1982. She also served as Director of the Satanta State Bank from 1992 until 1993. She attended the First Baptist Church in Satanta. Other survivors include two daughters, Beverly Wasinger and husband, Robby, Hays, and Blenna Hoenig and husband, Robert, Tulsa, Okla.; four step-sons, Kenneth Hale and wife Pat, La Junta, Colo., Henry Hale and wife, La Vonne, Satanta, Bill D. Hale, St. Helens, Ore., and Jeffrey A. Hale and wife, Kathy, Scappoose, Ore.; one brother, Tom Bodine Jr., Amarillo; one sister, LaVerine Campbell, Portsmouth, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Satanta with the Pastor Ray Tweed presiding. Burial will be at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette. SATANTA -- Billy Lee Hale, 76, Satanta, died Monday, May 5, 2003, in a farm related accident. He was born Aug. 12, 1926, to Henry O. and Cynthia (Axton) Hale in Collinsville, Okla. He married Geraldine Evelyn Ables April 12, 1949, in Benton, Ark. She died Nov. 12, 1976. He then married Gail Bodine Augerot Jan. 15, 1977, in Satanta. She died May 18, 2002. He was a retired conductor for AT and SF Railroad. He owned Hale Tree Trimming for many years. He served on the Satanta City Council for several years. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Satanta. His hobbies included fishing and taking care of his ranch in Jay, Okla. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth L. Hale and wife, Pat, LaJunta, Colo., Henry L. Hale and wife, LaVonne, Satanta, Bill D. Hale, St. Helens, Ore., and Jeffrey A. Hale and wife, Kathy, Scappoose, Ore.; two step-daughters, Beverly Wasinger and husband, Robby, Canon City, Colo., and Blenna Hoenig and husband, Robert, Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Russell Hale, Calif., and Ted Hale, Okla.; one sister, Neva Webb, Pryor, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Hale and Tom Hale; and one half-sister, Garnett Jones. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding. Burial will be at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
