Friends here report that Stanley Bodine, about 40 years old of Poplar Bluff, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon while enroute to the hospital. Mr. Bodine, a mail carrier, is survived by: His wife, the former Miss Jewell Baumgartner, who teaches in Poplar Bluff and has been a summer school student at Southeast Missouri State College in past years; two daughters, Sally and Janet, both of the home; his father and brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 Tuesday afternoon in Poplar Bluff.

Jewell Mae Bodine, 88, of Park Hills, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre, Mo. Mrs. Bodine was born Feb. 21, 1923 in Doniphan, Mo. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ, and had retired after 36 years as an elementary teacher, her last years teaching at Mark Twain. Mrs. Bodine was also a member of Missouri Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed sewing, bowling and doing yard work. On Dec. 17, 1943, she married James Stanley Bodine. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1962. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Carr and husband, Steve of Park Hills, Mo. and Sally Yarbro and husband, Jerry of Poplar Bluff; 3 grandchildren, Michelle House and husband, Jim, Megan Hicks and husband, Brian and Ashley Robertson and husband, Tim; 4 great-grandchildren, Jeremy House, Andrew Robertson, Toby Robertson and Olivia Robertson; and a brother, Bill Baumgardner of Florida. Her parents, George Albert and Florence Midkiff Baumgardner, 2 sisters and 3 brothers also preceded Mrs. Bodine in death.
