ALLMOND, Sydney P. - Of Flint, age 71, died Friday, October 16, 1998 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday, October 19, 1998 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Mr. Larry Williams officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Dr. Moses Mission or Valley Christian Academy. Visitation 4-9PM Saturday and 1-9PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Allmond was born in Union City, Tennessee on August 12, 1927. He married Helen J. Bodine. He was a faithful member of the Lord's body and attended the Bristol Road Church of Christ, and was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He served the U.S. in the Navy for 7 years during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Allmond worked for the Post Office for 28 years, as a letter carrier, retiring in 1985. His Lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you a ruler over many things, enter into the joy of your Lord." He is survived by his wife, Helen of Flint; sons, James Carlton and wife Jenny of Indianapolis, Indiana, Douglas Edward (Toby) and wife Cris of Witchita, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Johnson and husband John of Flint; brothers, Coleman Allmond and wife Elsie of Natches, Mississippi, Thomas Allmond and wife Jean of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Ira Allmond and wife Barbara of Warren, Michigan, Steve Allmond and wife Pat of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Annette Mize and husband Clyde of Guntown, Mississippi; 4 grandsons, James Carlton, Jr., Douglas Paul, Michael Allen and Austin Douglas; 2 granddaughters, Krista Starr and Jamie Lynn; other family members, Jim and Jackie Bodine, Bob and Ginny Bodine; many other friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Pearl Allmond; and son, Scott Taylor Allmond.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Bristol Road Church of Christ, G-1315 West Bristol Road, Flint, Brad McFaul, Minister officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to HIS Ministry or Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Allmond will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. Helen was born in Holcomb, MO on February 20, 1928, the daughter of M.L. and Millie (Blane) Bodine. She married Sydney Allmond on October 30, 1948 in Flint. She was a faithful member of the Lord's body and attended the Bristol Road Church of Christ. She is survived by sons, James Carlton of Indianapolis, Indiana, Douglas Edward (Toby) and wife Cris of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Flint, Michigan; 4 grandsons, James Carlton, Jr., Douglas Paul, Michael Allen and Austin Douglas; 3 granddaughters, Krista Starr, Jamie Lynn and Bethany Pearl; 6 great-grandsons and 6 great-granddaughters. Brother, Robert Bodine of Flint and sister-in-law, Jackie Bodine; many other nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney; parents; son, Scott Taylor Allmond; brothers, M.L. and James Bodine and son-in-law, John Johnson.
