Notes for: Edwin ("Ed") Clifton Bodine
He was born on a farm north of Colorado City, Texas. He was educated in the Colorado City schools. Later Edwin served twenty-three months overseas in WW II. He received a BA in Geology at Texas Christian University. A career followed as a geologist in the West Texas oil fields. When he retired, he remodeled the old homestead and is now living in a wonderful home full of boyhood memories.

The wedding of Edwin Bodine and Jeannine Stubblefield in the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Alexander in Abilene was reported in the "Abilene Reporter-News" of 7 March 1948. Edwin Bodine was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Jeanine (Stubblefield) Bodine was the daughter of David Cleber and Thelma Augusta (Bowman) Stubblefield.

Emily Jeanine Bodine Mar. 1, 1929 - Dec. 27, 2009 Jeanine Bodine of Hutto, Texas passed away peacefully on December 27, 2009 at the age of 80. Jeanine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, caregiver, and great friend to all who knew her. She was born on March 1, 1929, to David and Thelma Bowman Stubblefield. She grew up in Mitchell County graduating from Colorado City High School in 1946. She then attended Texas Tech before marrying her husband Ed Bodine, a geologist major at Texas Christian University, on March 5th, 1948. In 1950 they moved back to Mitchell County where their three children were born and they helped run the Bodine Brothers Diary until 1958. They became active members of the Northside Church of Christ. They moved to Midland, Texas with Gulf Oil Company, where Jeanine worked in the Midland National Bank until her husband was transferred to Abilene, Texas in 1965. She was church secretary there with 16th and Vine Street Church of Christ before going to work at Abilene Christian University. In 1979, they moved back to their beloved Colorado City community, and became very involved in church work with 22nd and Austin Street Church of Christ. Jeanine made a good elder's wife; she loved having friends and family in her home. Jeanine was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Stubblefield; two of her brothers, C.N. Stubblefield and Travis Stubblefield, as well as her parents. Survivors include one brother, Dave Stubblefield of Colorado City, TX; her children, Randell Bodine of Colorado City, TX, Gary Bodine and wife, Brenda of Wellington, KS, Jena Thomas and husband Edward of Round Rock, TX; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other family members including nephews, nieces and a host of close friends. The funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the 22nd and Austin Street Church of Christ in Colorado City, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Colorado City Memorial Park. Honoring Jeanine as pallbearers are Davey Stubblefield, Dwayne Stubblefield, Kirk Stubblefield, Blake Bodine and Bill Stokes. Edwin Bodine passed away peacefully at Lawton/Ft. Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma on September 23, 2015 at the age of 89. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother, and stayed in touch with siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends from the church and community. He was born on April 7, 1926 to L. L. and Stella Bodine in the Buford Community in Mitchell County, Texas. He attended school and graduated from Colorado City High School in 1943. He joined the army at 18 and served our country by fighting in WWII in the Philippine Islands. Upon honorable discharge, he attended two years at Tarleton University and Texas A&M University and then graduated after two years at Texas Christian University with a degree in Geology. He married Jeanine Stubblefield March 5, 1948. After graduation they moved back to Colorado City where he set oil wells and partnered with his brothers, Homer and Truman, in the Bodine Dairy. All three of his children were born during these years: Randy, Gary and Jena. In January, 1958, he moved to Midland, Texas to utilize his geology degree. He was both a geologist and an oil scout during those years. In January, 1965, he moved with his family to Abilene to become the manager of Williams and Lee Oil Scouting Company. In 1979 they moved back to the old Bodine Home Place in Buford. Ed worked for five years, 1981-1986, as a senior geologist for Sun Oil in Abilene during this time. Later in 1993 they moved into Colorado City on 17th Street. In 2004 they moved to Hutto, Texas to be near their daughter, Jena. He and his wife, Jeanine, were always assisting their children, helping them move to cities to follow their careers and helping care for grandchildren as the need arose. Ed was a great provider for his family and had a special love for sports. He played football for Colorado City High and continued his love for football as a spectator. He helped provide a place of recreation for his family and friends at their lake cabin, driving the boat for skiers and tubers for many years. He loved movies, especially the classics, and gardening. Ed was a faithful and long-time member of the Church of Christ, serving as both a deacon and an elder. His faith, family, and friends were very important to him, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all his classmates, friends, church family and co-workers throughout the years that have given him value and purpose. Ed's wife, Jeanine, described him as "steadfast and committed" knowing that their love had stood the test of time. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanine, three brothers, Lenn Bodine, Jr., Homer Bodine and Truman Bodine; sister, Aleene Monroe; three brother-in-laws, John Monroe, C. N. Stubblefield, and Travis Stubblefield; as well as both his parents, Lenn and Stella Bodine; and his wife's parents, David and Thelma Stubblefield. Ed is survived by sons, Randall Bodine of Lampasas, Texas, and Gary Bodine and wife, Brenda of Duke, Oklahoma; daughter, Jena Thomas and husband Edward of Lampasas, Texas; grandson, Alex Bodine and granddaughter, Jeanine Evers and her husband, Kendal; granddaughter, Sara Ackerman and her husband, Preston of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Lisa Bialon and her husband, Jacob of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson, Jonathan Bodine and his wife, Amanda of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Britni Little and her husband, Ryan of Hutto, Texas; granddaughter Megan Clapp and her husband, Will of Iowa Park, Texas; ten great grandchildren, brother-in-law, D. C. Stubblefield and wife, Barbara of Colorado City, Texas; sisters-in-law Helen Jo Stubblefield and Florence Bodine of Colorado City, Texas and Margaret Bodine of New Braunfels, Texas; and many other family members including nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Saturday, September 26, at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27 at the 22nd and Austin St. Church of Christ in Colorado City, Texas. Gary Bodine, minister at the Duke, OK Church of Christ and Royce Clay, a minister at the 22nd and Austin St. Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Colorado City Cemetery. Honoring Ed as pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Alex Bodine, Kendal Evers, Preston Ackerman, Jacob Bialon, Jonathan Bodine, Ryan Little, Will Clapp. Memorials may be made to Eastern European Missions, The Christian Chronicle, World Bible School or the prison ministry at the 22nd and Austin St. Church of Christ in Colorado City.
