Cheryl Lynn Smih and Randy Lynn Bodine were married Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22, 1977) in Central Christian Church. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Bodine. Janette Bodine, sister of the groom, was a bridesmaid and Michael Bodine, brother of the groom, was an usher.

MOUNT ZION -- Selfless, genuine and passionate - Randy L. Bodine, 61, a resident of Plainfield, Il. (formerly Mt. Zion) who had a reputation for his devotion to his family and friends and his one-of-a-kind personality, died suddenly on Tuesday April 9, 2019 in his home. Randy, born June 4, 1957, was the eldest of four children of Richard L. and Barbara E. (Hunt) Bodine, who preceded him in death. After ten years of friendship, he married Janette Edgecombe on February 29, 1992, who survives. Randy leaves behind daughters Lindsey (Joseph) Albin of Plainfield, Taylor Bodine of St. Louis, son Ryan Bodine of Plainfield and two cherished granddaughters, Emery and Audrey Albin, who adored their grandpa. Also surviving are brothers Michael (Lisa) Bodine of Las Vegas, Kevin (Damary) Bodine of Chicago, and sister Janette (Chris) Hays of Decatur. Randy leaves his special close relationships with each of his several nieces and nephews, always going above and beyond to be a part of their lives. Randy grew up in Mt. Zion, and graduated from Richland Community College and University of Illinois, putting himself through school while working 3 jobs. He lived in the Chicago area for 20 years before relocating back to Mt. Zion with his family. There he was active in the Boy Scout Troop, his kids numerous sports activities, the Mt. Zion show choirs and band programs. He and Jan recently moved back to the Chicago area to be close to their grandchildren. Randy was an incredibly hard worker, applying his high standards to everything he did. He spent over 35 years in the logistics industry, where he was a highly respected leader, receiving the achievers reward for finishing in the top five in sales nationwide for many years. In 2007 he made his dream come true when he became the owner of his own company, Forum Logistics. Despite his demanding career, Randy was a devoted dad, grandfather, son, brother, friend and more. Everyone who met him experienced an everlasting impression on their lives. His genuine ability to relate to anyone guaranteed a great time and lasting memories. He was kind and inclusive. He was the dad everyone wished they had and a friend that was always there. A perfect day for Randy would include blasting good music, smoking a cigar and cruising around the lake on his boat with that well-known grin on his face. Randy was able to continue his selflessness by being an tissue donor, benefiting the lives of over 25 recipients. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 5-8 PM and the service celebrating Randy's life will be on Monday, April 15 at 11AM at Brintlinger-Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Randy's behalf to the Mt. Zion Boy Scout Troop 43 or Mercer County Foundation for Health (Illinois Lyme Association).
