Richard H. (Dickie) Bodine Jr., 79 of Decatur died 10:06 am. Saturday, January 16, 2021 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be 12:00 noon Friday, January 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church Mt. Zion. Visitation will be two hours before at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery Decatur. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Diabetes Association or the First Baptist Church Mt. Zion. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements. Richard was born in Decatur in August of 1941 son of Richard and Dorothy Bodine. Richard graduated from Lakeview High School and was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Manufacturing Company. He was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Mt. Zion. Richard was a Mason. Surviving are his wife of thirty-seven years Aletha Bodine, daughters, Julie (Don) McKee, Jodi (Chris) Peer stepsons, Rick (Jeanne) Hector, Dan Hector, step daughter, Karista (Doug) Bierly, , step grandchildren, Natalie (Ronnie) Pritchard, Nicole (Nathan) Reinhart, Kiley Hector, Katie Hector, Heather (Larry) Edwards, Clint Hector, Kyler Peer, grandchildren, D.J. (Aubrey) McKee, Jessica (Josh) Foster, Morgan Bailey, four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brothers, Jack (Laura) Bodine, Mike (Phyllis) Bodine, Pat (Kim) Bodine. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gary Bodine and two step-daughters. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care for Richard.
