Jess Elmer Bodine, 22 AND Bertha Madge Moss, 22, both of Durant, Bryan County, were married 15 July 1939 in Durant by Rev. Ira Waldrum.

Bertha (Creason) Bodine was the daughter of George and Mertie Palestine (Strickland) Creason. Bertha Bodine married 3rdly, Edgar Lloyd Grider (1916-1997).

On 14 July 1956 Jess Elmer Bodine married Bertha Bodine. [Apparently the couple had divorced and subsequently remarried and were again divorced.]

Jess E. Bodine died 19 March 1974 in Bryan County.
Bertha M. Grider died 9 Feb 1993 in Bryan County.

Service for Jess Bodine, 57, of 1100 Oak Ridge, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Murray Funeral home chapel. Bodine died Tuesday in a Durant hospital. Officiating will be the Rev. Ed Philpot and the Rev. Ark Noel. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. Bodine, born March 12, 1917, in Blue, was a retired cab driver and was of the Nazarene faith. Survivors include a son, James of Garland, Tex.; stepson, Kenneth Moss of Garland, two daughters, Mrs. Betty Moyers of Tulsa and Mrs. Sally Blankenship of Garland, a brother, W. I. of Durant, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Helen Newkirk of Durant. Pallbearers will be Cecil Lindley, Cleat Self, Jack Raper, Tiny Williams, James Newhouse and Jack McGahey.

Service for Bertha Grider, 76, of Durant will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene under the direction of Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Grider was born May 5, 1916, in Lawton and died Tuesday at Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. She was retired from the shoe department at Pullen's Department Store. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was married to E. L. Grider, Aug. 11, 1962, in Bonham, Texas. She is survived by her husband of the home; three sons, Kenneth Moss and Buddy Grider, both of Durant, and James Bodine of Garland, Texas; three daughters, Betty Moyer of Tulsa, Sally Blankenship of Garland, Texas, and Jo Ann Reynolds of Salinas, Calif.; a brother, James Lawrence Creason of Durant; three sisters, Meada Rusco of Denison, Texas, Georgia Rose Thompson of Childress, Texas, and Flora Jane Dillard of Durant; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Haskel Hooper, Leman Miller, R.D. Parker, Alfred Wheeler, H.C. Rustin, Johnny Simpson, Jack Loftis, Ray Whetsell and James Baldwin. Family hour will be 7-8 p.m. today at Murray Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, the Revs. W. E. Chandler and Brance Moyer officiating.

Note: The above obituary states Bertha was born 5 May 1916 in Lawton, which is in Comanche County. But Oklahoma Birth Records report that Bertha M. Creason was born 5 May 1916 in Atoka County.
