Subject: Russell Bolton and Elizabeth Luyben

Hi Dave,

My name is Dave Luyben, and Edith Bodine was my father's [Virgil] cousin. Elizabeth Alida Luijben/Luyben was my great aunt. She was born in Leyden, the Netherlands, the daughter of Thomas Luijben/Luyben and Guysberta van den Berghe [Berg] on October 9, 1873. Both she and her husband Russ Bolten are buried in the St. Mary's cemetery in Bismarck, North Dakota. My sister, Jo Ann [Luyben] Winistorfer has "the family history" and has written several books on genealogy, including "Tracing Your Dakota Roots: A Guide to Genealogical Research in the Dakotas" (ISBN 0-9673808-0-4) now in its second printing. You could check the book out at (http://www.astrimyastri.com) or email Jo Ann at genesis at westriv.com. If you haven't contacted her already, I know she would be excited to visit with you about your family's history ~ at least she might have information for you that I don't have access to at the moment. I moved from Bismarck to Phoenix, Arizona last year, and left my "material" for her to add to hers for safe-keeping.

I'm wondering if I haven't met your mother at one time. I believe she may have made a trip to Bismarck to do some genealogy work, and may have worked with Jo Ann on that project. Could I be correct? A very interesting and nice lady ~ we enjoyed her visit very much.

This is perhaps more information than you would like, but it was fun to run across your genealogy while searching for "Luyben" this evening. I'm sending a copy of this correspondence to Jo Ann so she knows what I wrote to you about.

Best wishes,

Dave Luyben
