Stephen Bodine was buried in South Hickory Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Jefferson County. His grave marker bears the date of his birth as 17 Aug 1888, one year before his parents married, whereas the 1900 census records the date as Aug 1891. When he registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 in Mena, Polk County, Arkansas, he gave his birth date as 17 Aug 1893 and stated he was single. In 1942, he registered for the World War II draft as a resident of Randolph, Arkansas and again gave his birth date as 17 Aug 1893.

Stephen G. Bodine, 76, of Rt. 1, Woodlawn, died at 12:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. Funeral services for Mr. Bodine will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Myers Chapel. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Bodine was born Aug. 17, 1893, in Jefferson county. He was married to Jaunita Jones, who survives. Mr. Bodine was a member of the Webb Baptist church. He was retired from the Jefferson County Highway Dept. Besides his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Opal Wingfield and Molean Mooney, both of Mt. Vernon, Dicey Jamerson of Tuscola, Daisy Whobrey of Decatur, Edna Long of Springfield, and Louise Wells of Centralia; two sons, Emil Simpson, of Benton, Ark., and Steve Bodine, Jr., of Irving, Ill.; a brother, John Bodine of Indiana; two sisters, Mae Wehunt and Ruth Casada, both of Mt. Vernon; and 23 grandchildren.
