The Reece family lived all of their married life in Jefferson County where 'Lew' worked as a traveling salesman. In 1910, the Reeces were next door neighbors to Bessie's brother Walter Bodine. On 7 Sept 1918, James Louis Reece registered for the World War I draft in Mount Vernon. He noted that he was a salesman for the Reliable Shoe Company. James and Bessie Reece were buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Jefferson County.

James L. Reece, 29, born in Jefferson County, son of Clem & Sarah (Bullock) Reece AND Bessie Bodine, 22, born in Jefferson County, dau. of George & Sarah (Quinn) Bodine, were married 11 Aug 1906.

Mrs. Bessie Reece, a former Mt. Vernon resident, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Vood, in Casper, Wyo., with whom she had made her home for the past five years. She was 77 years, two months, and one day old. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Tuesday at Oakwood cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Holcomb officiating. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 10:00 a. m. Tuesday. Mrs. Reece was born Dec. 23, 1884, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of George and Sarah (Quinn) Bodine. She was married to James Lew Reece, who preceded her in death in November 1946. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Wood of Casper, Wyo., she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Etta Harpool of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Tinnie Collins of Benton; and two grandchildren Mrs. Reece was a member of the First Baptist church.
